‘€16m problem’ – Origi having nightmare after Liverpool exit, booed by fans, slammed by media

Via Sports witness:

It’s fair to say that when Divock Origi dreamed of life post Liverpool, he didn’t expect things to go as they have done.

The Belgian forward had made himself into something of an icon during his time at Liverpool, with late goals and dramatic substitute appearances earning him favour and legendary status.

His departure to leave for AC Milan last summer was one most expected and accepted, but it is yet to work out as anyone would have expected

Origi has only managed to feature in 30% of the available minutes in Serie A this season

The latest of those appearances came in the 0-0 draw with Empoli last night, in which he managed 70 minutes of action but severely failed to impress.

Stefano Pioli’s decision to focus on Origi’s desire for ‘redemption’ did not pay dividends as he missed to clear chances and put in a poor performance in terms of working with the rest of the team.

His display left everyone questioning ‘what happened’ to the player who arrived from Liverpool and earned himself such acclaim at Anfield.

That game saw him arriving late for every ball while he was ‘slow and cumbersome’ in every movement that he attempted to make.

Indeed, he was so bad that he was ‘booed loudly’ as he left pitch

They now consider him as a ‘€16m problem’ and a player that could be an ‘expensive problem’ for the team if he does not improve between now and the end of the season.
