Thomas Tuchel has admitted Liverpool's intense performance against his Bayern Munich side came as no surprise
The Reds had remained undefeated in pre-season up until this fixture and will be left wondering how they ended up on the losing side after such a convincing start to this friendly.
Tuchel was indeed left delighted at the response shown by his players, in a match he acknowledged was always going to be a real test of his team's pre-season progress.

"It is a very good ending of a tiring ten days [in Asia], it was very demanding. They did a huge step forward today: the performance was good, the result was very good and it was a deserved result against one of the best teams in Europe. I am very happy our players could show a performance like this and put an exclamation mark on the end of this tour,
"It was a proper away game, and we expected that. In Singapore and Malaysia, there are a lot of Liverpool fans. The intensity didn't surprise me. It was maybe a bit tougher for us because they started earlier [pre-season] and will start the season earlier. It was important to not be too shy and stand up and accept the fight. If you play Liverpool, it is always an intense match. You cannot expect anything else.
"This match proved we are on the right track. You can only win against Liverpool if you play as a team and overcome tough moments. The way the game went was more difficult than it was already because we went down 2-0 and it is very physical always against Liverpool, so we stood up, fought against and never gave up our discipline and spirit."
