Jurgen Klopp has revealed what he said to Roberto De Zerbi when embracing the Italian after Liverpool’s 2-1 win
The Reds had fallen behind to an early Danny Welbeck goal inside the opening two minutes
The victory was Klopp’s first over De Zerbi at the fifth time of asking, following the Brighton boss’ appointment in October 2022
Having signed Alexis Mac Allister from the Seagulls last summer, while also missing out on Moises Caicedo, the Liverpool boss is in awe of what De Zerbi has continued to achieve
Klopp
“I told De Zerbi to keep turning the football world upside down
“I will watch it from some distance. I respect so much what he’s doing.
"It is incredible what he has done, Brighton have lost Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo, they have lots of injuries, but he puts a team like that together. An incredible job.”
Having seen Mac Allister set up Salah’s winning goal in a man of the match performance against his former club, De Zerbi was full of praise for his former player
De Zerbi
“I think he became a great, great player,”
“The assistance for the second goal was incredible.
“I’m happy and I’m proud for him because I worked with him and he deserves to be an important player in a big team.”
Mac Allister saluted the travelling Brighton fans after the final whistle at Anfield
