Trent Alexander-Arnold has pleaded with supporters to not let his looming Liverpool exit ‘cast a dark cloud’ over the Reds’ Premier League title celebrations.
The England international confirmed on Monday that he will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old made his Liverpool debut in October 2016 and has gone on to make 352 appearances for his boyhood club to date, returning 23 goals and 86 assists and winning every major honour.
Expected to join Real Madrid, Alexander-Arnold will depart as a two-time Premier League champion after helping the Reds win the title during Arne Slot’s first season in charge.
Having thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 to win the title little over a week ago, the right-back was at the heart of celebrations on the pitch at Anfield after the final whistle as he was serenaded by the Kop.
The celebrations will continue in the weeks ahead with the Reds receiving further guards of honour from Arsenal, Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace
Liverpool will then embark on an open top bus parade around the city on Monday 26 May.
Alexander-Arnold has urged supporters not to dwell on his departure, sharing his desire for it to take nothing away from his team-mates and the title celebrations

“I’m just hoping that we’re able to carry on winning games,”
“The noise doesn’t take away from the fact of what we’ve achieved this season.
“It has been an amazing season, it has been amazing to be part of it and I just hope that everyone is able to maybe not dwell on this news for too long and be able to celebrate what the rest of the lads have done.
“Don’t let this cast a dark cloud over the season and let everyone celebrate what we’ve achieved as a club.
“And to enjoy the home and away games, the guards of honour, the celebrations, everything that comes with it.
“I’m hoping we’re able to celebrate it together. I know the news will take a bit of time to set in and people won’t be happy and they’ll be disappointed.
“At the end of the day, you can be angry and hurt at me but I just hope that the lads, the rest of the team, the staff, everyone else is able to feel how good a season this has been and able to feel the love and support from the fans as they have done all season.”
Alexander-Arnold sent a further message to supporters as he thanked them for everything, before sharing some of his future plans.

“There’s a lot I would like to say,”
“The main thing is a massive thank you. You guys have been there from the start with me, you guys have supported me, been there.
“I’ve felt the support, the love, everything that you guys have done has never been unnoticed by me, I’ve loved every single minute of it. I hope they have felt that has been reciprocated and that I’ve given everything I could to the club.
“I’ve done things I never thought I’d be able to do, and to do them with the fans and supporters of this club has been something I’ll never forget.
“I’ve got many, many memories that will live with me forever.
“There’s no doubt about it, I’ll be back – I’d love one day to be able to bring my kids to Anfield and show them that that’s where I’ve played and show them the videos and highlights of what we were able to achieve together.
“So just a huge thank you for that, thank you for everything you’ve ever done for me.
“Thank you for the support, thank you for the love that I’ve always felt, thank you for always having my back.
“I will always love the club, I will always love the people of the club,
“I will always love the fans and the supporters. Even though I’m leaving as player, as a fan I’ll always be a Liverpool fan.”
