Arne Slot thinks it's unlikely Trent Alexander-Arnold will feature for England during the international break as Liverpool brace themselves for a fresh injury setback.
The right-back was forced off after 25 minutes of Saturday's 2-0 win over Aston Villa.
Goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah sent Slot's men five points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Alexander-Arnold was withdrawn for Conor Bradley and Slot doesn't believe the defender will join up with the Three Lions for their Nations League fixtures with Ireland and Greece during the break.
Slot, though, admits it is too early to put a timeline on any length of absence for his vice-captain, saying:
Slot
"That is difficult to say how serious it is.
"So that is first of all not a good sign. It is always difficult so close after the game to tell you exactly what it is but let’s wait and see.
I would be surprised if we will see him playing for the England national team this week but hopefully he can."
Liverpool are already without Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa, Diogo Jota and Alisson Becker, although Slot is chopeful of having all four back on the other side of the international break as they aim to continue their momentum away at Southampton.
