Regis Le Bris admitted Sunderland were surprised at how much time and space they were given on the ball by Liverpool as they claimed a 1-1 draw at Anfield.
A late Nordi Mukiele own goal cancelled out Chemsdine Talbi’s deflected opener on Wednesday night.
The stalemate left the Reds in eighth in the Premier League table, one point behind the sixth-placed Black Cats.
And Sunderland head coach Le Bris shared his pride at his players' performance following the final whistle,
Le Bris insisting they were not disappointed to leave Anfield with just a point as he revealed what he had told them at half-time.

“I think I feel positive to be fair,” he said at his post-match press conference.
“We had this opportunity to score the second goal but I think it is a good result for both teams.
“We started well. Probably we didn’t believe enough that it was possible to score and we did at the start of the second half.
“We were even a bit surprised to have time and space to build up the play and probably didn’t expect to be at that level.
“We spoke about the final third and how it was possible to disturb their backline.
“We expected (Mohamed) Salah as well to come on the pitch and change the dynamic. We were prepared.
“No, I don’t think so, I don’t think so. My players were not disappointed in the dressing room.
“Maybe a bit because it was possible to have this opportunity to get the second goal but they were proud of the way they played.”
