Steven Gerrard rubbishes reports Al Ettifaq want Mason Greenwood transfer




Steven Gerrard has rubbished reports linking his Al Ettifaq side with a move for Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood as "fake news."


United announced on Monday that Greenwood is to leave the club. It came after the they concluded a six-and-a-half month investigation into the 21-year-old, saying "it would be most appropriate for him" to restart his career at another club.



The Manchester Evening News report United will work with Greenwood's representative and father, Andrew, to identify the appropriate club for him to continue his career


a report in the Daily Mail linked Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq with the forward, Gerrard took to social media to refute such claims.


"Fake News," Gerrard wrote in an Instagram story, with the former Liverpool captain accompanying his caption with the screenshot of the Daily Mail's story that claimed the Saudi outfit was "considering" making a £10m-per-year offer to Greenwood.
