Stefan Bajcetic has revealed his work behind the scenes as he looks to recover from a "tough" injury setback
Bajcetic was one of the breakthrough stars of last season after impressing during the tour to Thailand and Singapore
His campaign was cut short in March due to an adductor problem that also ruled him out of all of this summer's pre-season programme
Bajcetic has returned to the bench as an unused substitute in the last three Premier League games.
The defensive midfielder has explained how he used the time on the sidelines to further improve his chances of regular first-team minutes
Bajcetic
Obviously any injury is tough,"
"The timing doesn't matter if you're playing or not - any injury is tough to take - but this one took quite long to recover from."
"It was tough but it was an opportunity as well to do stuff in the gym, get stronger and physically better. So I took that opportunity and now it is about working hard to get back playing."
"When I see the pictures of last season I think 'wow, I did well!'.
"Since I went to pre-season with the first-team for the first time I've just progressively got more into the team.
"It didn't feel that natural at first because I was playing with big, big players, but it was good and now I am striving to get back in."
Bajcetic adds
"At a club like Liverpool you need to always fight for your position. It is never guaranteed.
"Anyone can play in any position, but I know that if I do my job and I push as hard as I can, I will have more chances to play and maybe not just at (number) six."
"We lost some players, we got some new players and they can help us. They have given us a boost, for sure, and this is the highest level of football so you can always learn from the others, especially in my position in the midfield."
Bajcetic on Bobby Clark and Ben Doak
"It is important that I help them because I think they looked at me last season," he said of the duo. "I played with Bobby and Ben and they would have looked at me and thought 'if he can do that, I can do it as well'.
"In this club they always give opportunities to young people. We have seen this in the last years in the cups. A lot of young players played and we won some cups so there are always opportunities. The more cup games we play in, the more minutes we could get.
"I would say it's a great time to be a young player at Liverpool. The coach puts a lot of faith in young players and some of the players we sign as well are very young. I think in the future these players will be great for Liverpool."
