'Rest of his career' - Harvey Elliott sends message over Mohamed Salah future at Liverpool

Harvey Elliott believes Mohamed Salah still doesn't get the credit he deserves as the midfielder revealed his wish to see the Egyptian stay at Liverpool "for the rest of his career".

Salah has two goals this term but has carved out as many as four assists for his team-mates to take his tally since the start of last season to 16 in total

The 31-year-old was the subject of a remarkable offer worth up to a potential £150m offer from Al-Ittihad

Elliott says he will try to convince Salah to stay on Merseyside for the remainder of his playing days

Elliott

"Touch wood he doesn't ever leave but if he does go then I want to be that person to learn from him and apply it in my game,"

"Hopefully, as I say, he doesn't leave and he's here for the rest of his career. I will do my best [to keep him] but to be just learning from him and in the same team as him, is just a dream come true as well as everyone else in the team.

"I mean we see it all week in and week out. Mo is an absolutely unbelievable player as well as an unbelievable guy and he's got that finishing ability and he's got that creative ability as well.

"You can always count on him. That is why he is in the team week in and week out. [On Saturday] he supplied three assists if it goes down as my goal! If not, it's two assists, but either way, Mo's creativity is absolutely out of this world and I don't think people appreciate it as much as they should

Elliott added:

"It's not hard to see the quality player that he is and why he is one of the best in the world. To be able to play with him and to be able to learn from him, be close to him is a dream come true. I am not surprised [by his assists].

"We see him week in and week out, like I say, so we know it's there. I think from the public eye it might be a surprise because he is known for his goals and his goalscoring ability, so like I said his creativity is up there with some of the best in the world. He's so hard to play against.

"He has eyes all over the place and I do try and ask him, you know, I am close to him in that sense, so I do try and work as close to him as possible, to learn. Learning from the best, it's exactly that."

Elliott continued

"You know Robbo is a credit to himself and a credit to his family, he is an absolutely unbelievable guy,"

"He was captain on his 200th appearance and what a way to finish the game and he kind of drove it himself. The comeback was within him and it was his goal. So it was just unbelievable to play with him as well. I can't speak highly enough of him.

"He's a great guy and he's great to have in the changing room because he is always encouraging people and wanting to bring that positive energy. He is as funny as anything and it's great to be around him. I've no idea where [he gets his energy from].

"I think he is just always energetic, he is bringing the energy into the group. Whenever anyone is feeling deflated in the group he is always there to pick us up and if you speak to him he's that natural Scottish energy! What a player and what a guy. I am so happy for him and hopefully he can score some more goals...a new striker!"
