Mohamed Salah has handled his contract negotiations with Liverpool perfectly, according to former Watford striker and pundit Troy Deeney.
The Egyptian has been Liverpool's standout performer this season as the Reds charge towards a 20th league title
They are currently 12 points clear at the top of the standings with nine games to go
the focus beyond winning the Premier League this season is tying down the futures of their best players,
While Trent Alexander-Arnold's future is increasingly looking like it will be elsewhere, there is growing hope that Salah and Virgil van Dijk will extend.
Although nothing is done yet, Deeney believes Salah has dealt with his situation perfectly this season and has done his talking on the pitch
The retired striker has also warned that the player is in a stronger position from a negotiating standpoint given what it will take for the club to replace him.
Deeney
Absolutely [he has played it brilliantly], he’s gone out and arguably had the best season of his career and showed again his availability,"
"I don’t really remember Mo Salah being injured in his time at Liverpool, he’s always fit.
“We’ve spoken about it on numerous occasions, but I do believe it will take them three maybe four players to replace Salah and his goals and assists.
“There’s a lot you have to go and get to replace what he can do.
“I think from Liverpool’s point of view, it’s been really poorly managed because now he’s got you over a barrel.
“But if you get the deal done, no one will care [how bad it’s been].”
Salah has scored 32 goals and registered 22 assists across all competitions this term.
