Mohamed Salah is hoping Virgil van Dijk will follow suit and sign a new deal at Liverpool, after he signed an extension this week.
Van Dijk scored the winner for Liverpool against West Ham on Sunday.
While he may have been partially responsible for the own goal, the Dutchman, who was captaining the Reds for the 100th time he redeemed himself with the crucial strike,
Arne Slot's men now needing just six points to win the title.
This season, much of the off-field conversation surrounding Liverpool has centered on the futures of Salah, Van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who had entered the final year of their current contracts at the beginning of the season.
Salah delighted fans on Friday by signing a new two-year deal, keeping the Egyptian at Anfield until 2027, a decade after he joined the Reds.
Van Dijk is also set to put pen to paper on a new deal, while Alexander-Arnold is expected to join Real Madrid.
When asked about his new deal, Salah said:
"I am glad that we managed to do that early, before the end of the season and hopefully Virgil will also be next.
“I'm just saying hopefully! Look he can do whatever he wants but I would love to see him here again next year."
After scoring, Van Dijk sprinted toward the corner between the Main Stand and the Kop, chased by jubilant teammates.
Once the celebrations settled, he walked over to the Kop, clutched the Liverpool crest on his shirt, and kissed it—a powerful gesture that spoke volumes.
Asked about Salah's comments, the captain said:
"I can tell you I am very proud today to captain my 100th game for Liverpool.
“It was an emotional day because of the Hillsborough anniversary so that was the main focus to get three points and get a step closer to all of our dreams.
"Players, staff, everyone who is connected to Liverpool FC. That's the main thing because everyone knows how much I love this club and let’s see what next week will look like."
