Liverpool are increasingly confident they can reach an agreement with Mohamed Salah for the forward to stay at Anfield beyond the end of the season.
Salah is one of three Reds players who are out of contract this summer and therefore able to walk away from the club on a free transfer.
The Egyptian has previously made clear his desire to stay at Liverpool, where he has become an integral player under first Jurgen Klopp and now Arne Slot since arriving from Roma almost eight years ago.
And now the expectation from Liverpool is a deal will be struck with the 32-year-old forward after negotiations over both the length of the contract and the financial terms.
Salah has been in outstanding form this season with 32 goals and 22 assists in 45 appearances this season.
He heads the Premier League Golden Boot standings with 27 strikes, and has been key to Liverpool opening up an 11-point lead at the top of the table with seven games remaining.
The news comes just days after Virgil van Dijk revealed there had been a breakthrough in his own contract talks.
The Liverpool skipper is also in the final months of his present deal but, similar to Salah, has made it clear he would prefer to stay at Anfield.
While the Reds have always been confident they can trash out new contracts for both Salah and Van Dijk, they have accepted it will be more difficult to persuade Trent Alexander-Arnold to do likewise.
Alexander-Arnold is also a free agent this summer and is pondering an offer from Real Madrid. The European Super League advocates failed in an attempt to sign the right-back in January.
