England manager Thomas Tuchel says he has held talks with Marc Guehi and has been very impressed with his attitude.
The defender met up with the Three Lions squad the morning after his deadline day transfer to Liverpool from Crystal Palace collapsed in dramatic fashion.
The Reds had a £35m agreement in place with their Premier League rivals, Guehi had undergone a medical in London, and was ready to sign a five-year contract.
The green light never came as Palace failed to sign a replacement in the final hours before Monday's deadline, therefore the 25-year-old was forced to stay put.
Liverpool's transfer target was reportedly 'angry' with the outcome but it would appear he has not let this drag him down this week in the build up to England's FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Andorra (September 6) and Serbia (September 9th)
Tuchel
"We had a chat with him and he looks absolutely fine. He looks very impressive on the field,"
Continuing with high praise for his defender,
Tuchel added: "He has a couple of very impressive weeks behind him. He is the main driver of Crystal Palace's success.
"He's the captain and the leader, played very, very impressive in the end of last season and in the start of this season, and continued exactly like this in camp so it is very impressive. He handles it with respect and with grace and with brilliant attitude."
Earlier in the week the German had outlined how he and his coaching staff had accounted for transfer deadline day and the emotions that come along with it when giving players a date to report for international duty.
Tuchel explained: "It is one reason why we called the players up on Tuesday, to not have all these mixed emotions. They come on Tuesday, so they have one day off.
"We also didn't want to have that week too long. We wanted to streamline it towards the Saturday game and start on the Tuesday afternoon with training.
"But one part of the decision was also to give them the freedom to sort out maybe their transfer issues and the transfer subjects that come their way.
"So, yeah, of course we're interested. We need to know where we have to drive on the weekend."
It remains to be seen what part Guehi plays in the upcoming qualifiers, if he gets the opportunity to speak to the media personally, or indeed what Liverpool head coach Arne Slot or his Eagles counterpart Oliver Glasner has to say once the Premier League returns next week.
