Luis Diaz makes major Liverpool transfer admission after approach rejected - 'We're talking to clubs'

Luis Diaz believes the onus is on Liverpool to agree a new contract as speculation over his future continues.

The Reds rejected an approach from Barcelona for Diaz on Wednesday after the Spanish champions finally made concrete their long-standing interest in the player.

The Saudi Pro League have also been tracking the 28-year-old with Al-Nassr thought to be considering a move for the Colombia international winger this summer.

Diaz has two years remaining on his current contract with talks having thus far not progressed with Liverpool over a fresh deal.

while revealing his representatives have been approached by a number of potential suitors, Diaz has stated he will be happy to either play out the remainder of his contract at Anfield or put pen to paper on a new deal.

Diaz said: "I'm very happy at Liverpool, I've always said so. They've welcomed me very well from day one,”

“We are currently in contact with Liverpool, because we are talking to clubs, and that's normal given the transfer market that's opening. We're trying to arrange what's best for us,

“We’re talking to clubs, it’s normal in the market and we’re looking at what’s best for us.

“I'm waiting to see what happens. If they (Liverpool) give us a good renewal or I stay there for two years, I’ll be happy. Now it’s up to them.”

Diaz has been a regular when available since arriving from Porto in January 2022, scoring 41 goals in 148 games.

He became an important player under new head coach Arne Slot this season when appearing both on the left flank and down the centre of the attack as Liverpool won the Premier League title.
