Liverpool 'plotting Morgan Rogers transfer' as Arne Slot looks to replace star

Liverpool is reportedly plotting a move for Morgan Rogers as a replacement for Harvey Elliott, should Elliott complete his move to RB Leipzig.

Elliott's prospective move to the Bundesliga could be accelerated after Tottenham reached an agreement to sign Xavi Simons from Leipzig.

Simons' exit frees up funds for Leipzig to move for Elliott, whose Liverpool career has stagnated since the arrival of Arne Slot last summer.

The report about Liverpool's interest in Aston Villa star Rogers comes from Football Insider, which says Tottenham is also interested in the player.

Villa has had a quiet transfer window due to PSR constraints, and last week the club sold academy product Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle to ease financial concerns.

However, it feels unlikely that Villa would entertain the prospect of selling Rogers, who has emerged as one of Unai Emery's most trusted players.

Two players that are markedly more likely to end up at Liverpool are Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi.

Although time is running out for the Reds to land them, it appears as though the pieces are beginning to fall into place to facilitate both players' moves.

Crystal Palace is working on deals to sign two central defenders, which would pave the way for Guehi to leave, while Newcastle has agreed to sign Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart, and he is reported to be viewed by the Magpies as a replacement for Isak.
