Jurgen Klopp is set to return to Anfield when the Liverpool Legends meet Borussia Dortmund in a charity match for the LFC Foundation in March.

The Liverpool team, who will be captained by the iconic Steven Gerrard on the day, will face their Dortmund counterparts on Saturday 28 March 2026, with all proceeds going to the club's official charity.

Klopp is the Foundation’s honorary ambassador and is now confirmed as being part of the managerial team against another of his former clubs alongside Sir Kenny Dalglish during the March international break.

Klopp said.

"I'm really proud to be an Ambassador for the LFC Foundation,"

"It means a lot to me, honestly. To be back at Anfield for the Legends game, alongside Sir Kenny and his team, playing against the BVB legends, that is something special.

"It's going to be a very emotional and special day for me, for the LFC Foundation and for everyone involved. I can't wait and I really hope to see you all there."

A long-time supporter of LFC Foundation, Klopp, who now works as Red Bull's global head of soccer, has consistently praised the impact of the charity and was a guest speaker at the LFC Foundation's Gala Ball in the city's Anglican Cathedral last May.

The emotional Anfield return is fitting for the vaunted Klopp given his strong links to the opposition on the day BVB, who he coached for seven years between 2008 and 2015,

helping return them to the pinnacle of German football during that time with two Bundesliga titles and two DFB Pokals (German Cup).

One hundred percent on the proceeds from the Legends fixture will go directly towards the work of LFC Foundation and Forever Reds.

This year, funds raised will support the Foundation’s employability programmes, helping people across the community to find work, gain qualifications and develop new skills through mentoring and training.

The match will also contribute to the Foundation’s long-term ambition of supporting 500,000 people a season by 2030.

Klopp said in July 2024.

“The LFC Foundation does an incredible job in the community, both in the Liverpool City Region and beyond,"

"I am really proud to continue my work with them and be named the first ever LFC Foundation honorary ambassador.

“I look forward to seeing what we can do with that now that I have more time on my hands.”

Speaking in 2023, Klopp also said: “I am happy and proud to be an ambassador for the LFC Foundation.

"To have people listening to me is the best thing I can do to help our Foundation.

“All of the people who work for our Foundation do an incredible job, I love them all, because the things they are doing are just incredible.“It’s such a wonderful organisation and the best thing a football club can do is to give people good moments, hope,

belief and the knowledge that they are actually never alone.

“I enjoy each moment with the Foundation, it’s really great, so it’s win-win situation for all of us.”
