Liverpool might be in the hunt for a new right-back this summer, if Trent Alexander-Arnold decides to part ways with the club at the end of his contract.
The Reds' vice-captain hasn't put pen to paper on a new deal yet and is reportedly on Real Madrid's radar for a Bosman transfer.
The Spanish giants had their approach for the defender turned down by Liverpool just before the January transfer window.
Although they're not expected to make another bid for the vice-captain, he can still sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs
If Alexander-Arnold does leave, Conor Bradley could be the one to fill his boots. However, that hasn't stopped rumors linking Liverpool with other right-backs.
The Reds have been consistently linked with Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich, who's also out of contract at season's end, while Jeremie Frimpong has been mentioned as a potential target.
Interestingly, Frimpong has revealed that he was once close to signing for the Reds - but ended up at Manchester City due to logistical issues.
The Bayer Leverkusen player came through City's academy after joining them at nine years old.
But he had initially chosen Liverpool over a move to the Etihad after being scouted by both clubs, only for logistical reasons to derail the move.
The 24-year-old shared his journey with Rising Ballers, saying:
Frimpong
“I was playing striker and scored a hat-trick in a final, I won player of the tournament.
“There were scouts there like Liverpool, Bolton, Man City and a lot more were present.
"But I chose Liverpool first. I was going to sign for them but back then, driving wasn't a thing, my family wasn't driving like that and it was far.
“And obviously, Man City was local so I tried Man City next and it made more sense. It was 15 minutes on the bus, so yeah."
Frimpong's career took off when he debuted professionally for Celtic in September 2019 at 18, shortly after leaving the club.
His path could have crossed with Alexander-Arnold's at Liverpool, who had already made the first team by then.
The Dutchman joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 and was instrumental in the title success under Xabi Alonso last term, scoring nine times.
He has also been linked with Manchester United in recent months.
