Roy Keane has doubled down on his criticism of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Manchester United legend made headlines when he lambasted the Liverpool vice-captain for his performance in the Reds’ 2-2 draw with the Red Devils earlier this month.

Hitting out at his defensive performance at half-time, Keane claimed that the England international was ‘going to Tranmere Rovers’ rather than Real Madrid at half-time in the 2-2 draw at Anfield.

The former Republic of Ireland international wasn't budging from that stance in the latest episode of The Overlap’s ‘Stick to Football’ podcast

Again taking aim at the Liverpool defender, he insisted the 26-year-old looks like an emergency solution and ‘defends like he has never played at right-back’ before.

Keane said.

“If Trent Alexander-Arnold goes to Real Madrid, then good luck to him – as if Madrid don’t know how to defend,”

“He’s played over 300 games and played for England, but he still defends like he has never played at right-back.

“He’s played all these games, and he must do training sessions, but he’s playing right-back, and people go at him like he’s confused and never seen something like that before.

“Trent defends as if Liverpool have had lots of injuries, and they’ve asked him to just fill in a position.”

Keane has been a regular critic of Alexander-Arnold, with his latest, tiresome comments nothing new.

former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has already issued the perfect response, having mocked how the right-back continues to be perceived earlier in the week.

“And then Trent, yeah. He could finally learn defending, huh?” he said when unveiled as Red Bull’s new head of global football at a press conference in Salzburg. “I can’t believe that you all discuss this still.

“It’s so poor. It’s so poor really. And I’m really happy that I’m not part of that. Unfortunately I’ve watched a few of the press conferences when he (Liverpool head coach Arne Slot) had to talk about it.

“And think, ‘Oh my god! They still don’t understand it!’ And yes, he didn’t play well against Manchester Unitedz, but if we would make such a fuss of him when he plays well, like we make a fuss of it when he doesn’t play well, that would be a really cool planet.”
