Ibrahima Konate has confirmed that he has been offered a new contract by Liverpool
Konate though suggested he is not yet close to signing an extension. The France international’s current deal expires in the summer of 2026.
The 25-year-old joined the Reds from RB Leipzig in a £35m deal in the summer of 2021, and has made 112 appearances for the club to date.
Konate has re-established himself as Virgil van Dijk’s first-choice centre-back partner following the arrival of head coach Arne Slot
The Reds are currently in contract negotiations with Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, with the trio’s deals expiring at the end of the season.
But it appears they are not the only players locked in tough negotiations with the club.
When quizzed about his own future, Konate admitted his own talks are also not yet nearing a resolution.
Who talked about that a few months ago?” he replied when asked for an update on his contract talks
Konate
“The club didn’t say anything, I didn’t say anything. It’s one person who said that.
“I was not ready, I didn’t know when he said that. But after, I spoke with the club. I think I am really focussed on what happens now. We will see what will happen.
“Yes (I have been offered a deal). This is another conversation (whether I am close to signing).”
Konate has made 22 appearances for Liverpool this season, scoring two goals and recording one assist
