Gary Neville has criticised Liverpool for releasing a statement taking aim at the Professional Game Match Officials Limited
The Reds took an unprecedented step on Sunday night by releasing a statement about a decision in a match and accusing the PGMOL of undermining sporting integrity.
The move came after the PGMOL confirmed that Diaz had a goal wrongly ruled out for offside, with the score still goalless in the first half
Howard Webb reached out to Liverpool to offer an apology for the disallowed goal after the final whistle
Liverpool's issue, however, is not around the decision but rather how the laws were not applied.
Despite condemning the call to wrongly rule out the goal on Saturday night, Neville now believes that the Reds have overstepped the mark
Neville
"Jurgen Klopp handled the situation well last night after the game. Most football fans will have had empathy with what happened and recognised it was wrong!"
“However Liverpool's statement tonight is a mistake! Talk of exploring all options (what does that mean!!) and sporting integrity are dangerous phrases along with being vague and aggressive.
“Sorry we f@@@@d up was enough! I said this last night. Sorry should be respected and not undervalued.
“This is a snap reaction that can always be wrong but I feel strongly about it."
