Dominik Szoboszlai reveals Liverpool 'disagreement' after missing Carabao Cup final vs Chelsea

Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed that he was left out of the Carabao Cup final squad following a decision from the medical team.

The Hungarian has been out of action for the Reds since their 4-1 win over Chelsea at the end of January, after a recurrence of a muscle injury.

Szoboszlai returned from the hamstring problem that he suffered on New Years' Day against Newcastle United but tweaked the issue

Szoboszlai was among those absent from Jurgen Klopp's selection options after injuries ravaged through the side

The 23-year-old admitted that he was at loggerheads with the Liverpool medical staff and if it was down to him, he would have made himself available to play

"They (medical team) are careful with me. If it would be up to me I would play (today). I hate it. I hate not playing. I had a lot of disagreements with the doctors."

Pep Lijnders fielded questions from reporters in the pre-match press conference at the AXA Training Centre on Friday

The Dutchman said that Salah, Nunez and Szoboszlai were all facing an "important" build-up to Sunday's final, however they failed to come through in time.

Lijnders said:

"We come in a crazy schedule again, so we play every three days. It's important for us to use each minute, use each day to really look how the players are. This is for Mo, Dom and Darwin.

"Two training sessions to go, let's see how they are and then we can make a decision in the last minute.

"And all the others, we know it's longer. Ali has a muscle injury. Trent, LCL. Jota, medial ligament, MCL. Curtis [has] a high ankle sprain. They will be longer out."
