There will be many images that eventually sum up Liverpool going to Manchester City and winning by two goals to nil.

But one perhaps neatly encapsulated it better than anything else: Dominik Szoboszlai, flat out on his back, laid out on the turf.

The Hungarian has barely had a rest all season because of how intense his running has been.

But Szoboszlai never stopped here, shuttling around and winning possession back all over the field. At the final whistle, he was shattered.

Liverpool's number eight assisted and scored, and he was relentless in every sense of the word.

Szoboszlai didn't stop once here and the truth is, he has been a driving force in the last few weeks.

Disrupted by illness and suspension after a superb showing against Spurs away from home, Szoboszlai has swiftly got back into his groove.

There is even more to come in front of goal, but he literally couldn't do any more off the ball.

Liverpool has more home games remaining than away and with an 11-point lead thanks to Arsenal's defeat, it is firmly in pole position.

Everyone involved at Anfield will play down the situation and insist that there is still work to be done.

And while that is undoubtedly true, there is also now not just one fewer match left to play, but also one more in which Arsenal would have been watching and hoping to see some dropped points.

The simple fact is that when Liverpool has dropped points lately, the Gunners haven't capitalized

Now, with West Ham United defeating Arsenal earlier in the weekend, the Reds have moved even further ahead.

Those draws with Everton and Aston Villa, which felt to some like missed opportunities at the time when the emotion was still raw and the missed chances still glaring, now look a lot more beneficial

Midweek, Arsenal travels to Nottingham Forest and Liverpool hosts the Magpies.

You would fancy the Reds to be able to match their opponent in terms of a result, and from there, Mikel Arteta's men might feel that things are too difficult.

If Liverpool does go on to lift the silverware that it most craves, then this run of fixtures will be a vital part of ensuring that happened.

Szoboszlai, alongside Mohamed Salah and others like Virgil van Dijk, has been a key determinant in that happening.
