Dejan Lovren aimed a dig at Jamie Carragher as he responded to Mohamed Salah setting a Premier League record for the most direct goal contributions for a single club since the top flight's 1992 rebrand.
Going into the weekend, Salah was tied with Wayne Rooney on 276 goals and assists for a single club, but Salah's assist for Hugo Ekitike during Liverpool's 2-0 win over Brighton saw him move onto 277.
Salah shared a graphic of the record on social media, and Lovren reposted it alongside sarcastic caption which said:
Lovren: "Not good enough Mo. You need to cover your full back."
Lovren was seemingly making reference to Carragher's recent criticism of Salah, when the Sky Sports analyst responded to the Egpytian recently saying that Liverpool had thrown him under the bus by saying:
Carragher: "When we are talking about throwing people under the bus, he's thrown every Liverpool right-back under the bus for the 8 years. Can you imagine playing behind him for eight years?"
A week ago, it looked as though we might have seen the last of Salah in a Liverpool jersey after his ill-advised chat with reporters in the mixed zone at Leeds.
However, after missing the trip to Inter Milan last week, Salah was back in the squad for Saturday's game against Brighton, coming off the bench and producing one of his brighter performances of the season.
Appearing on CBS Sports' coverage of the Champions League last Tuesday, it was put to Carragher by fellow analyst Micah Richards that many observes felt as though Carragher's comments about Salah had a personal edge to them.
Carragher responded: "I don't care what people say, I'm not interested in what people say if I'm being totally honest. It doesn't affect me, it doesn't bother me.
“I absolutely adore Mo Salah the footballer, I've raved over him for eight years, and I continue to do so."
Asked by Richards whether he would like to apologize to Salah, Carragher looked down the camera and said.
Carragher: "Mo I apologize if I upset you. I love you as a Liverpool player, but you just need to behave yourself off the pitch."
Salah's appearance against Brighton was his last for Liverpool in 2025, and he will return to the club in January following the conclusion of his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt.
