Arne Slot says he has no sympathy for Pep Guardiola as Liverpool boss makes Man City claim

Arne Slot admits he does not feel sympathy for Pep Guardiola after Liverpool ensured Manchester City's winless run stretched to seven games

Goals in each half from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah were enough for the Premier League leaders to restore their advantage to nine points

City, in contrast, have now lost four successive Premier League games

This followed a late collapse against Slot's former side Feyenoord saw them surrender a three-goal lead inside the final 15 minutes to draw at the Etihad in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Despite the struggles, Slot says he does not feel sorry for Guardiola, insisting such emotions are reserved for coaches whose teams are languishing towards the wrong end of the tables.

"You feel sympathy or empathy with the managers in a really bad place,"

"They have lost many games or down at the bottom of the league, but Pep has won so many things and he has shown so many times already, so that is why the league is not decided in November or December.

"Last season they were eight points behind Arsenal I think in somewhere in February, so no one has to feel sympathy or empathy for Pep, maybe for other managers, but not Pep.

"Pep has won so many things and will be able to bring City back. They are actually still near the top of the the table but even more than they are now."

Next up for Liverpool is a trip to Newcastle United on Wednesday before the last-ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park against Everton on Saturday lunchtime.
