Arne Slot has been warned it will "take months" to properly integrate all of Liverpool's summer signings as the Reds' £450m summer splurge continues to fail to deliver on the pitch.
Liverpool have lost six of their last seven Premier League games to slide down into the bottom half of the table, with their title defence left in tatters before the likes of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz have got up to speed in Slot's new system.
After Slot only brought in Federico Chiesa during his first two transfer windows, the Reds changed tack and signed 10 new players in the summer.
But of those only forward Hugo Ekitike has looked anything like the player the Reds had hoped to be getting when they shelled out up to £79m to sign the Frenchman from Frankfurt.
Ekitike is Liverpool's top scorer this season with six goals in all competitions,
Isak has only netted once in nine appearances since his British record £125m move from Newcastle United, and Wirtz has yet to open his account for the Reds, registering two assists in the Champions League.
In addition to those new arrivals, left-back Milos Kerkez has struggled for form since joining from Bournemouth, and right-back Jeremie Frimpong has picked up two hamstring injuries which have hampered his progress.
Veteran Premier League boss Sam Allardyce, who managed Everton for 26 games between 2017 and 2018, feels that the Reds may have changed too much over the summer, and feels it will take Slot even more time to get all of his new arrivals up to speed.
Allardyce
“Is this a case of too much transition in one season?"
"You’ve got the opposite last year when everyone thought they’ll have no chance of winning the league because they’ve only signed one player, and Arne Slot coming in with a team that’s familiar with itself, that knows themselves, and he inherited that magnificently well.
“Now it’s a transition, and he [Slot] clearly has asked for that transition to happen, and the amount of money that’s available to Liverpool on the basis of what they’ve built up over the years, particularly last year with only signing one player, meant there was a big pot there, and they went into the market by signing quality players.
“The integration of a new player is difficult, but the integration of many players is very, very difficult. It will take months.
"This is not an overnight situation, to know how your players partner up. Players who are there at the moment are looking at the new players, and footballers are very good at not blaming themselves.
“Now it’s down to Arne Slot to deal with the toughest time he’s going to have.”
