Andoni Iraola makes Antoine Semenyo January transfer claim amid Liverpool interest - 'We will talk'

Andoni Iraola has insisted he is not concerned by Antoine Semenyo's release clause ahead of the January transfer window as the Ghana international continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool.

The 25-year-old signed a new contract with AFC Bournemouth in the summer as he resisted interest from the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the process.

However, it was widely reported earlier this week that his new deal, which runs until the summer of 2030, includes release clauses that would enable him to move on both in January and next summer.

Should interested sides wish to sign Semenyo when the transfer window re-opens in January, they would be able to activate such a clause to sign him for an initial £60m plus £5m in add-ons.

However, it is only active to a certain date in the winter transfer window, to give Bournemouth time to sign a replacement. His release clause then reduces further in the summer of 2026.

Liverpool are one of a number of sides who have been linked with a move for Semenyo ahead of the January transfer window, though it remains to be seen if they intend to make a move for the forward.

But speaking following the latest reports revealing the forward’s release clause, Bournemouth boss Iraola insisted now is not the time to think about what might happen in January.

"We are in November, Antoine [Semenyo] is our player, he will continue to be our player,” he said at his latest pre-match press conference. “In January, you can ask me about the market.

"But right now, I am not worried about the next market. I am not worried about the situation

“In January, we will talk about whatever happened, the players we need."

Semenyo has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this season.

Boasting six goals and three assists from 11 outings in the English top-flight, only Erling Haaland can better the Ghana international’s goal contributions haul (14 goals, one assist).

The forward is an injury doubt for Bournemouth’s clash with West Ham United on Saturday, but should he continue his strong start to the season, speculation about his future will only continue ahead of the January transfer window opening.
