Alisson Becker is adamant Liverpool’s squad is not being distracted by the Mohamed Salahfurore as he offered his backing for under-pressure Arne Slot.

Salah sparked controversy with his comments after remaining on the bench in the 3-3 draw at Leeds United on Saturday in which he claimed the club had thrown him “under the bus” and hinted he could leave.

The Egyptian was subsequently left out of the Reds squad for the Champions League trip to Inter on Tuesday with the club reacting to his outburst.

Salah nevertheless took part in the training session on Monday lunchtime and was part of the warmdown at the AXA Training Centre on Sunday after the Leeds game.

Alisson said: “After the interview I thought it would be really weird but it wasn't.

“We know it's a personal situation and we respect that. We played our last game on Saturday night and there's not been too much time.

“Time together at training was to rest and recover and focus on a huge team.”

“This isn't a situation that makes us happy. On a personal level we all love Mo and he’s a hugely important player for the team.

“He is a wonderful human being and a spectacular footballer.

“The situation isn't nice. We were a little bit caught by surprise but we know it's a personal situation so we are leaving it to him and the club.

“It doesn't matter what we think. What we want is for him and the club to reach an agreement which is in the best interests of him, the club and all of the playing staff.”

The Salah situation has further increased the pressure on Liverpool after a run of only four wins in 15 games in all competitions.

But Alisson was unequivocal over whether he is still fully behind the head coach.

“Of course, yes,” said the goalkeeeper. “Why? The Premier League last season. Before Arne came in everyone was talking about the huge challenge of substituting Jurgen Klopp.

“It looks like everyone takes for granted what we achieved last season.

“That should be enough but we believe in his knowledge, his style of playing that he is capable of helping us to turn around this situation.

“My relationship with the manager is fine.”

Alisson added: “It's not only about ourselves but that's the situation with the club as well, they trust him.

“It's not only his responsibility, as a player I share it with him. Of course he's the man responsible for how the team plays, but we are taking the responsibility and the ones that take action and can change everything.

“It doesn't make the situation any easier, but we are trying to do that. We have the desire to change the situation and the manager does as well. To get us back on track for the football we were playing last season.”

Alisson believes Salah would have known what to expect after his comments but wants to see the player back in action for Liverpool again.

“I hope he plays again for the club but that's a personal situation between Mo and the club,”

“We as his team-mates and his friends we hope the best thing happens for him, but as Liverpool FC players we want the best for the club. We want a win-win for him and the club.

“Him not being available is a consequence of what he did. He's smart enough to know that.

“I haven't spoken to Mo about it how I want to talk. We have a good relationship, it's not just a team-mate, we spend so much time together. We are good friends.

“You share so many moments together, happy moments, sad moments, that creates a bond between people.

“I will have a conversation but it's going to be private because it's personal.”
