Alan Shearer's Mohamed Salah worry after four Liverpool stars 'don't look right'

Alan Shearer believes Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is lacking confidence as the Reds' attacking force 'don't look right'.

Arne Slot's side suffered their first defeat of the season as Eddie Nketiah brutally ended the 100 per cent record in a 2-1 win for Crystal Palace.

So far this term, Liverpool have needed late goals or valiant defending to set the pace in the Premier League title race.

It looked as though history was repeating itself when Federico Chiesa emerged to score the equaliser but a defensive lapse saw them taste defeat for the second time this year to the South London club, following their Community Shield disappointment.

The champions have made the start that they would have wanted, winning five of their opening six, however the manner of the performances have sparked debate.

Especially after the influx of world-class quality across the pitch following a summer splurge.

Liverpool twice broke their transfer record to sign Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, who was also the British record while offloading a glut of their Premier League title-winners.

Wirtz in particular has come under fire after failing to assist since the Community Shield defeat to Palace, while failing to register a goal contribution in the Premier League.

Salah has also made a slow start to the campaign after his record-breaking season last time out but Shearer has claimed that the Egyptian is lacking confidence.

"They're still trying to work out Wirtz because they left [Cody] Gakpo out, put Wirtz on the left, Salah on the right and Isak down the middle and it still didn't look right,"

"Salah certainly doesn't look confident and not the Salah were used to yet, it'll change and it's a matter of time but they're all trying to figure out how to get the best out of each other.

"They haven't played well as yet, they've scored all those late goals and again, they get a late goal but it was role reversed."
