'We knew' - Joe Gomez makes Michail Antonio claim after Liverpool win over West Ham

Joe Gomez has admitted Liverpool were aware of the threats Michail Antonio would pose

West Ham had the chance to take the lead during the opening stages of the contest through Antonio, who saw a header flash wide of the goal

Pressure was on the Jamaica international to deliver during the 90 minutes, having publicly predicted the Hammers would both come away with all three points and end the season above Liverpool.

Klopp's men did not allow the 33-year-old to have the final say during the meeting between the sides,

Gomez

"West Ham have got great quality, they've got it up front and throughout the team. Michail Antonio is a big threat and we knew that was going to be difficult,"

"It's a big result for us, going to 1-1 was a moment we had to reset and regroup and we did that. It's just about us staying confident and keep playing our football."

Acknowledging the fact West Ham could not afford to spurn chances, such as Antonio's aerial effort inside the opening 10 minutes of the match,

Bowen said:

"We had a few chances and maybe that's what it comes down to, just taking our chances when we get them.

"Away at Anfield it is never easy and when you create good chances we should put them away. But also we've got to keep the ball out of our net to give us the best chance we've got right up until the end of the game."
