'The worst thing' - Dominik Szoboszlai shares Liverpool fitness update after injury frustration

Dominik Szoboszlai believes he is now back to full fitness after overcoming a hamstring injury

Szoboszlai insists he is yet to show his best form in a Liverpool shirt.

Szoboszlai enjoyed a breathtaking start to life at Anfield as he established himself as a firm fan-favourite

A hamstring injury picked up against Newcastle United on New Year's Day ultimately derailed his progress.

Initially returning at the end of January, he scored in the 4-1 victory over Chelsea only to aggravate the issue

Returning as a substitute against Nottingham Forest earlier this month, he scored off the bench against Sparta Prague last week before starting the weekend's draw with Man City.

Szoboszlai has declared he is raring to go and put his injury woes behind him once and for all

"Yeah, I am back so I don’t feel any pain,"

"Hopefully it stays like that, also for the future. It is the worst thing that can happen to you, to be injured and to not be allowed to help the team, even if you want, and you are watching from television or from the stands."

"Hopefully, it never comes again. But as a professional football player, it can come all the time. That’s why we have to take care of ourselves. And then we will be ready for every game.

"It is not easy to come back. Every player who gets injured, we have to build up ourselves in games as well. It is not that you go from zero to 100. You have steps to get over it.

"It is not the easiest one, when you feel you are ready to play but you still get only a 15 minutes chance to play. Or then the next game 40 and the next game 60. Then maybe you can get to 90.

"It is a build-up which, as a player, is hard to understand. But we have to accept it because our body is the main thing we use in the game. We have to take care of it."

Szoboszlai continued: "Maybe it (varying form) is not because of my injury. It happens also that you have really good games, you have less good games, you have a bad game.

"We are also not perfect. None of us had all the games showed themselves 100 percent what he can really do it. But especially my side, I am working every day on it to get my best shape

"Probably, if you think my best shape was the start of the season, it wasn’t. I can be even better."
