Gary Lineker has urged Trent Alexander-Arnold to be moved into midfield after the Liverpool full-back created two more goals
Following his point-saving contribution against Arsenal, Alexander-Arnold made it three assists in two games at Elland Road on Monday night as he continues to flourish in his new roaming role between midfield and defence.
The 24-year-old's performances are often a topic of debate
However, the Match of the Day presenter and former Everton striker has demanded that the Reds play to the England's star strengths..
Lineker said: "Said it for years: I’d love to see TrentAA play in midfield regularly. It’s the position he grew up playing. Play to your strengths."
The new tactical tweak saw Alexander-Arnold have 153 touches against Leeds, making 124 accurate passes, with a 91 per cent passing accuracy.
Klopp discussed the role change and raved over the academy graduate's performance
Klopp said: "It’s both (to help attacking and defensively). Because it’s Trent it’s both. Obviously I think the goal for Darwin (Nunez) is an exceptional pass and in the first half a pass for Mo (Salah), one for Hendo (Jordan Henderson), stuff like this, so yes, he can be both.
"In general we need to be better protected as well because we conceded too many counter attacks, we lost the ball in the wrong moment and Trent played a really good game, and again, when we lost the ball the reaction was completely different.
"And, we didn’t lose that many balls because we were calm on the ball. The one we lost in the completely wrong moment was the goal we conceded, all others we must be able to protect and the formation suits us much better, yes."
