John Aldridge
It was a good result for Liverpool at Manchester City
In all honesty, I think it was a fair result at the end of the day. They had a few more chances than us but, as a whole, we got what we deserved through Trent Alexander-Arnold's wonderful strike
I've seen Trent receive a bit of flak on social media, but I thought he played well and stood strong against Jeremy Doku, who will cause nightmares for plenty of defenders
I didn't think Trent could have done much more defensively.
City clearly tried to target him and overload their left side. Doku only really had one opportunity, which was one he created himself. For Trent, that means job done.
As well as Trent, I was really impressed with Ryan Gravenberch and the impact he made
It wasn't an easy game in midfield, that was shown by the way in which Dominik Szoboszlai endured a tough afternoon.
There was something refreshing about Gravenberch and the way he carried Liverpool up the pitch late on. He came on with energy and gave us a physical presence that was lacking before.
At the other end, I thought Alisson Becker, understandably, had an afternoon to forget after travelling halfway across the world to play for Brazil last week.
You've just got to hope that his injury isn't too serious and that he can get back on the field sooner rather than later
He's just a presence, everyone is aware of him. Whenever a centre-forward goes through one-on-one with him, you can see his stature plays on their mind.
I suspect it was probably a bit of gamesmanship from Pep Guardiola, ensuring some of his important players weren't jetting around the world just days before facing Liverpool
I'll be honest, if I was a manager I'd probably be doing the same and looking to pull my players out of their international squads where I could. That's the way it works.
Sometimes you have to do what is right for your club. If Ederson had travelled across the world, like Alisson, maybe he would have made an honest mistake that would have seen Liverpool win.
